It’s being dubbed “Mobilegeddon 2016” and it refers to the ever-increasing importance being placed on having a mobile-friendly website, particularly following Google’s announcement earlier this week. According to a Google blog statement: “Last year , we started using mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal on mobile searches. Today we’re announcing that beginning in May, we’ll start rolling out an update to mobile search results that increases the effect of the ranking signal to help our users find even more pages that are relevant and mobile-friendly.”
In essence this means that if your website is already mobile-friendly then you can relax and do nothing. If you’re unsure whether you’re website is mobile-friendly or not then you can test it using Google’s ‘Mobile-Friendly Test’. The answer you’re looking for, by the way, is a big, green: “Awesome! This page is mobile-friendly.”
